During the past year a 6-inch Main from two pumping dams on the Pokefolum Road has been laid on to No. 2 Reservoir, the result proving that an additional 27 per cent of water is obtained during the Dry Weather, on the previous supply from Pokefolum. 600 10" socket & Bend Pipes, 38 feet-paidines.
The pipes for the water supply from the eastward have arrived from England and are now ready for laying. The Dam from which the supply will be obtained is completed, and arrangements are made for connecting the service with that which pumps to the Mint. Two new Hydrants have been fixed, one in Jardine's Bazaar, and one at the East End of Wyndham Street. The Extra supply which will be obtained will be double that received from Pokefolum. During the Dry season the supply from Pokefolum is 136,800 Gallons in 24 hours, whereas the new works will give an increased supply of 280,800 Gallons. This will suffice to supply the whole of the Eastern part of Victoria and probably the Queen's Road and Praya as far as the Cantonments. Considerable expense has hitherto been incurred from Leakages in the 10" main on the Pokefolum Road; these leakages have been invariably found to occur where short double socket...
